2004 marks a highlight for Gunner. On May1, 2004 Gunner obtained his AQHA papers. Not only is he now a Quarter Horse, but his offspring will have the option of either being Quarter Horses or Paints. What an advantage this gives Gunner's get. Look for the Gunners to make their mark in the AQHA as they have in the NRHA and APHA. 2003 started with a very special honor for Gunner. The NRHA elected Gunner to the Hall of Fame! Gunner (APHA Colonelsmokingun) is an amazing equine individual. 2001 was a year that probably will never be matched in the NRHA. During that year Gunner went untied and undefeated in his quest to be the 2001 USET Cosquin Champion. Along the way he marked a 229, 233 (the highest score in modern history), 226.5, and a 222. More importantly, he never received a penalty during the runs. In the same year, his get were the APHA Futurity champion, the APHA Junior World Champion, and money earners in almost every major NRHA futurity. Those combined facts made 2001 a very special year.
